Laufer, Yaakov (“Yankele”)

Son of Shlomo and Miriam. He was born on December 16, 1938 in Tel Aviv. The situation at that time was difficult, because Jacob was born in the midst of the bloody events of 1936-1939 and when the Second World War broke out – and the house was a workers’ house which never knew abundance, especially in times of riots and war. After the child was two years old, his father joined the army. The mother and her son Jacob moved to Jerusalem, the mother went to work, where they both expected the father’s return. From Jerusalem the mother and son moved to Kfar Saba – and then the father returned to his family. In Kfar Saba, Yaakov began his elementary studies and when he reached third grade the family moved to Tel Aviv, where he continued to study and even excelled in his studies. He joined the Ha – Shomer ha – Tsa’ir youth movement. After completing his studies, he moved to the municipal high school where he worked in the humanities. At the same time he continued his studies, both as an apprentice and as a guide, but this did not interfere with his studies. He worked in the school’s newspaper and promised many things. Delve into world problems and formulate his own worldview. He left with his nucleus to complete Kibbutz Nachshon and was involved in cultural matters. He was drafted into the IDF in October 1957 as part of the Nahal Brigade and did not aspire to rank; Wanted only to be a good soldier and after his service he said to return to his kibbutz and build his home there. Ya’akov underwent parachuting training and other training, but before his death, his fate was cruel and on September 18, 1959, he fell while fulfilling his duties and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. A pamphlet published in his name (“Yankele”) containing lists of his friends. His memory was mentioned in Uri Milstein’s book, “The Paratroop Wars.”
