Lampert, Yaakov
Sarah’s eldest son (nee Visoker) and David. Jacob was born on the 11th of Cheshvan 5614 (November 2, 1914) in Tel Aviv. There was a brother to Yosef, Aliza, Yehuda, and Yigal. He grew up in Tel Aviv. On December 20, 1941, Yaakov married Hadassah in the house of Lukov and in the following years they had two daughters: Nili and Wardia. During the Mandate period, Yaakov served in the cantors. He later served in the British Police, during which he transferred information and weapons to the undergrounds, helped the Jews in clashes with the British police and served as a reliable mediator and arbitrator between Etzel and Haganah. He also took part in the daring activities of Betar and the Betar organization, among other things, taking part in the removal of the Nazi flag from the German consulate on the Jaffa-Tel Aviv border, and in the War of Independence, Yehuda’s brother, Ramle on May 20, 1948. With the establishment of the State of Israel, Yaakov enlisted in the Israel Police, was a 226 policeman and was sent to an officers’ training course at a national training base in Shfaram and studied at the High School of Law and Economics. Jacob was loved by all his acquaintances and subordinates. Courageous, dependable and humane. He was an athlete, a member of the Yordei Yam Zevulun Association, participated in boxing / boxing competitions with British policemen and rode horses and motorcycles. Yaakov was seriously injured during his police service. He was treated at Rambam Hospital in Haifa for many months. On April 22, 1953, during his officers’ course, he died due to the serious injury, and Sergeant Ya’akov was thirty-nine years old and was buried in the Carmel cemetery in Haifa. We all admired his fear, his integrity and his courageous courage during the fateful and cruel hours of the events of 1936/9, especially in Haifa and the surrounding area. Jacob’s girlfriend relieved the heavy burden … “A library at the officers’ school in Shfaram was named after Yaakov. Jacob’s name is commemorated on the central police monument at the base in Shfaram.
