Lakrif, Nir


Son of Daniela and Yuval. Born in Haifa, on the slopes of the Carmel, on the 6th of Av, August 3, 1984. On August 25, 2003, Nir enlisted in the Israel Air Force and served in the field he studied in. He was a Yassur helicopter mechanic at the Tel Nof base. In July 2006 he successfully completed a course for airborne mechanics. About a year later he returned as an officer of the “Night Dorsi” squadron in Tel Nof, where he participated in innumerable secret training and secret operations for the security of the country. Nir fell in operational activity on the 15th of Av, July 26, 2010. A week earlier, he had been a pioneer in organizing logistic training in Romania as part of a cooperation between the Israeli and Romanian air forces. On July 25, 2010, the team arrived and joined them for training. The next day, during the training, the Yasur helicopter crashed while flying in misty weather in the Carpathian Mountains in southwestern Romania, and all the crew members perished. Nir was twenty-six years old. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
