After completing his matriculation exams, Dror practiced at the Wingate Institute in order to improve his abilities for the new era. Dror was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of August 1972 and served in the Haruv reconnaissance unit, where he underwent a parachuting course and a high-grade infantry commander course, was an outstanding soldier, admired by his friends and commanders, and with a desire to advance and succeed in military service. In his long journeys of scouts and combat operations, Dror served as a model for his friends in his optimism, his agility and professional ability, and received the “Operational Service Award.” A very devoted friend, a soldier who did not hesitate to sacrifice his life, : “A soldier from birth, almost an IDF record.” In the Yom Kippur War, Dror was a soldier in a glorious reconnaissance unit that fought in the fierce battles in the city of Suez, where he was injured when he ran to save a wounded soldier, and he fell. He was 19 years old. Dror fell on October 24, 1973. He was brought to rest – In the Kiryat Shaul cemetery. Survived by his parents and brother. After his death he was promoted to sergeant.
