Kurt, Amitai
Son of Aryeh and Esther. He was born on March 30, 1936 in Ramat Gan, where his parents, men of work, raised their son in the spirit of the labor movement and from his childhood he continued to agriculture and kibbutz life. But after considering his parents’ feelings that they could not part from their son and send him “far away,” he agreed to continue his studies at the Shevach school in Tel Aviv, where his teachers urged him to devote himself to high-level technical studies, He joined the “Hashomer Hatzair” movement and joined the “Shomria” nucleus, which served as a supplement to Kibbutz Zikim. Youssou IDF in January 1955 as part of Infantry, trained at the workshop and completed the advanced technical knowledge to enable him to benefit from his kibbutz future. Army squad has followed a course of advanced training. When the enemy attacks culminated in the murderous attack on the archaeological conference at Ramat Rahel, he and his unit embarked on a retaliatory action on the 21st of Tishrei 5726 (26.9.1956). In this battle, Husan was hit by grenades but did not agree to withdraw, and not only accelerated and encouraged his unit to advance, but he himself continued the assault until he was defeated by enemy bullets. In one of his letters, he wrote: “The true test of the slogans of the movement is in the ranks of the defender” – and his steadfastness in this test proved his defeat. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Zikim. On the first anniversary of his death, his parents published a pamphlet in his memory. Kibbutz Zikim also published a pamphlet in his memory and the memory of three other kibbutz members who fell. His memory was mentioned in Uri Milstein’s book, “The Paratroop Wars.”
