Kuperman, David

David, son of Malka and Zvi, was born on 24.4.1952 in Akko. He studied at the Bialik Elementary School in Acre and at the “Reali” High School in Haifa, and was a member of the military boarding school near the school. As a child, he was a member of the Scouts movement in Acre and also participated in the activities of the scouts. To go out to the sea in the sailboat-was for him at that time a pleasure that was beyond him. He also liked to walk the countryside and go hiking. On his walks he was interested in everything around him, starting with various insects that caught his attention, and he used to collect them, bring them home and experiment with them, to ancient coins he found from time to time. In his home he had a large collection of stamps and a hobby, too, was a leisurely occupation. His many pursuits and hobbies did not prevent David from being an outstanding student at the school, where he worked to fulfill all his duties in the best possible way. As a child David was shy and did not like to interfere with people. Obedience, responsibility, and respect for others-these were the traits that had characterized him since his early childhood, and which made him acceptable to both children and adults. In his youth he was very sensitive, but he hid his sensitivity from his friends. An expression of his rich inner world was found in the writing of poems in his small diary. “My uncle was my first love, he knew how to lavish love and exhaust the Yaffa and wonderful with the happiness of two, and even when we parted and each of us went away, we stayed friends, we exchanged letters and impressions – my uncle knew how to be a true friend.” While in the military boarding school, he spent most of his time studying and living the contents of the boarding school. Among other things, David was among those responsible for editing the pamphlets and pamphlets. During the summer vacation he participated in a parachuting course held by the military boarding school. David was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of November 1970 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he completed the following courses: Tank Tank Course, Tank Tank Course, Tank Commander Course, Basic Officers Course and Armored Corps Course. In February 1973 he was promoted to lieutenant. The Yom Kippur War found him with his unit on the southern front. During the fighting my uncle was wounded and transferred to the field clinic. After he was dressed and received first treatment, he left the clinic and returned to the battlefield. When he did not find his battalion, he found an abandoned tank of reservists, mounted it and caught up with his men. On October 21, 1973, his unit participated in battles on the banks of the canal in the “Missouri” area, near the Chinese Farm. During the battle his tank was hit and David fell. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Nahariya. Survived by his parents and two brothers. “I fought with David all the days of the fighting, I did not have to talk to him on the radio, everything went off without any need to say a word to him – my uncle always read the battle correctly, He continued to command the rest of the platoon when I was wounded, and he continued to advance even after the second tank in the department was hit, and my uncle fought until the last minute. “
