Kruani, Saadia


Son of Sa’ida Yahya, was born in 1929 in Yemen. Saadia was educated in the spirit of tradition, as is the custom of Yemenite Jews. On August 21, 1945 Sa’adia immigrated to Israel with his brother Avraham. His parents and the rest of his family remained in Yemen. Upon his arrival in Israel, he lived in Moshav Even Yehuda in the Sharon and began working there as an agricultural laborer. Saadia was a member of Hanoar Haoved and joined the Hapoel sports association. Saadia immersed herself in the life of the country and in the company that worked as a veteran resident. Sa’adia was recruited to the Palmach and served in Company A in the Fifth Battalion of the Harel Brigade, where Sa’adia participated in many battles on the road to Jerusalem and in the battle for it.Sadya’s company was sent to Kibbutz Ramat Rachel after it fell to the enemy After a failed attempt to conquer the kibbutz, the company packed up in the dining room, waiting for the right moment. “On the morning of Wednesday, May 26, 1948, Sa’adia left with his comrades in the battle, Eastward towards the “children’s home.” Sa’adia was considered missing for more than sixty-one years during the assault, and Saadia was killed in the attack. In the framework of the Unit for the Commemoration of the Soldier, it was found that Sa’dia was brought for temporary burial at the end of the month of Adar, and then his body was transferred to permanent burial on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. On Wednesday, 16 th September 2009, a ceremony was held to unveil a tombstone on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
