Kradi, Rahamim (‘Clemente’)
Son of David and Klima. He was born in 1938 in the city of Benghazi, Libya, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1949. He began studying at a school in his hometown and continued to study after immigrating to Israel. Rahamim was drafted into the IDF in mid-August 1956 and assigned to the Artillery Corps. He took a field artillery course and was certified as a Frist-type cannon. In February 1959, Rahamim was released from regular service and settled in Hod Hasharon. He married a wife and together set up a house for him. He began to specialize in work as a cook. In 1964, he volunteered for the career army and was accepted as an assistant cook. He completed his training course at the Military School of Education, and during the Six-Day War he served on the Eilat destroyer and was among the survivors. After the ship sank from an Egyptian missile attack, he was released from the IDF shortly thereafter. After serving for a year in the Israel Police, he returned to regular service in the Israel Defense Forces and took a course from senior cooks’ inspectors. He served in many bases throughout the country and did his hard work with faith. He was awarded the ‘Sinai War’, the ‘Six Day War’ and the ‘Yom Kippur War’. On the 11th of Nissan 5737 (11.4.1977) mercy fell upon his service. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Kfar Saba. He left behind a pregnant wife, three sons and two daughters and a mother. After his death he had a son. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Rahamim served in the unit devotedly, dedicated himself to increasing the strength of the IDF. The contribution of his life was great. “
