Kozlovich, Matityahu


Son of Tzila and Gedaliah. Born in Stushin, Poland in 1923, he immigrated to Eretz Israel with his parents, where he studied at the elementary school in the Borochov neighborhood and then continued his studies at the vocational school “Max Finn.” And from 1923 he was a member of the Haganah. As part of his company, he held many guard positions in Israel and Egypt, and when the Jewish Fighting Division was established in September 1944, he was sent to the Italian front and promoted to the rank of corporal, and his friends in the group were fond of his kindness, cheerfulness, and willingness to help others. In May 1945, in a battle on the Sienio River, he was wounded in the chest by shrapnel from a shell and after treatment in several hospitals in Italy died on the operating table in Naples on 10 Sivan, 22 May 1945. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Caserta, Italy.
