Kostkowski, Uri
Uri, son of Esther and Yitzhak Kostkowski, was born in 1928, in Kibbutz Ein Harod. Uri was devoted to his parents with all his Lev and often expressed his promise to be a supporter of their old age. In 1947 he joined the Palmach and joined the training program in Ein Shemer. During the War of Independence, he moved with his department to the environs of Jerusalem, and was attached to the “Furtzim” battalion in the Harel Brigade. He fought at the head of a class in the conquest of Katamon and in the break-up to the Old City. Uri fell in Operation “Maccabi” on 1 Iyar, May 10, 1948, in a battle to conquer Beit Machsir. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Anavim.
