KOSOVSKY, Yair Simcha Hacohen

Son of Miriam and Abraham. He was born on May 8, 1973 in Be’er Sheva (Soroka Hospital). A third child of four children, a brother to her lover, Shlomo and Shahar. He was called Yair because he was born in the month of Iyar, and rejoiced after his great-grandfather on his father’s side. In the family he was nicknamed “Yairle”, “Yirushka”. Yair Simcha grew up and was educated in Be’er Sheva in a religiously observant family. Yair was educated in Anat’s private kindergarten and in a municipal and compulsory kindergarten in Mishkenot Park. He spent the first four years of his studies at the “Hazon Ovadia” religious elementary school and continued his studies at Yeshivat Bnei Akiva, Ohel Shlomo. He was a boy of striking beauty, and his girls stood out at a height of six feet. Yair was a quiet, obedient, smart and talented boy. Loved by all his friends, teachers and admirers and very devoted to his family. At the end of eighth grade he was awarded a certificate of excellence for his gentleness, his diligence and achievements in his studies. Yair continued to study at the same yeshiva, but moved to a boarding school where he studied until the end of his studies. During these studies he was awarded a scholarship for his achievements. In addition to his religious studies, he managed to complete all that was required for the matriculation certificate. He devoted much of his spare time to work, earning and saving money for various purposes, including obtaining a driver’s license. Among his many activities are computer programs, computer games and various collections, such as stamps, coins and more. After completing twelve years of study, he continued to study for six months at the Western Wall Yeshiva in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem. Prior to his enlistment, he dreamed of joining vital positions in the career army and studying economics at the university after completing compulsory service. In March 1992 he was drafted into the IDF and was assigned to serve in the Armored Corps, where he fell in the course of his duty on 15.4.1992 and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. His parents, members of the family, friends, and rabbis came to the funeral, and in the eulogy of his yeshiva student at the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva, he spoke of Yair’s joy in learning Torah and humility.
