Korman, Shaul (Shulk)

Son of Rachel and Yitzhak, was born on December 6, 1912 in the city of Kielce, Poland, and had a high school education. From his childhood, he was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair movement and for a time worked for the movement’s main leadership in Warsaw. In 1933 he immigrated to Israel and joined Kibbutz Ein Hahoresh. A year later he left the kibbutz and moved to work as a laborer in the orchards of Petah Tikva. For a while he also served as a guard in Jerusalem. Shaul trained and learned the profession of advertising, was admired by all his friends, well known and courteous, standing guard and ready for battle. From the day of his immigration he joined the Haganah and was a guard during the bloody riots of 1936-1939. After the United Nations General Assembly decided to divide the country into two states, he was among the Haganah activists in Jerusalem and was appointed deputy commander of the section, who fell from a sniper’s bullet on Princess Mary Street in the course of his duty on the 12th of Adar 22.3.1948. He was buried in Sanhedria in Jerusalem and he survived by a wife, Shoshana, and a son on 13.9.1951 was transferred to the eternal military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
