Koren (Kuperman), Shimon

Son of Zvi and Aliza. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on March 8, 1932, he immigrated to Israel in 1952. He was drafted into the IDF in June 1954 and after completing his service he continued in the regular army and attained the rank of captain. Participated as a faculty member who took care of the Latin American youth course. Guided them with great devotion and acquired the love of all participants in the course. His advice was good and he always showed understanding to their hearts, like a real father. Immediately after the completion of the course, on 27 August 1964, he fell in the line of duty and was put to rest in the civil cemetery in Ramat Hasharon, where he left a wife and two children. In one of the letters, the author announces that they are organizing a camp for 125 youth, which will be called “Yad Shimon Annual National Camp.” She writes that their slogan will be “devotion, loyalty, Work, sacrifice “- three words which, she says, express the rebirth of our new state.
