Koren (Kornhauser), Yigal


Son of Yaakov and Yehudit (Yitka), Holocaust survivors. He was born on the 23rd of Av 5713 (23.7.1953) in Hadera. He studied at the HN Bialik Elementary School in Netanya. He was a loyal son to his parents and always helped them with everything. Before his enlistment in the IDF, his mother died, and Yigal supported his father and helped him overcome the difficult crisis, and Yigal was drafted into the IDF in October 1971 and deployed to the Armament Corps. After basic training and after completing his training course for instructors and technical engineers, he was sent to a unit in the center of the country in the role of technical warehouse technician. Yigal was commended for his entire service in the unit “fulfilled his role in an excellent manner with great initiative and dedication.” On June 29, 1974, Yigal fell and was buried in the military cemetery in Netanya, leaving behind a father and brother, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant – as an expression of appreciation and respect for the IDF.
