Kopito, Meir


Son of Yoseph and Leah. He was born on the 13th of Tammuz, July 10, 1949, in Tel Aviv. He began studying at the Carmel elementary school in his hometown. Later, he continued his studies at Geula high school. He belonged to the “Scouts” movement. He spent his leisure time at the sailing club, because he loved the sea very much. He was drafted into the IDF, in February 1968. During his short service, he proved himself to be an excellent soldier, and an exemplary friend. Before he completed his mandatory duty, he fell from an enemy sniper rifle, near the Suez Canal, on the 16th of Adar, March 6, 1969. He was brought to rest in the military cemetery, in Kiryat Shaul. A memorial booklet, named “Meir” was written after he fell.
