Ra’anan, son of Aliza and Joseph, was born on 10.4.1952 in Jerusalem, where he studied at the Henrietta Szold Primary School and the Hebrew Gymnasium in Rehavia. As an industrialist’s son, he was preoccupied with economic matters, and he closely followed developments in these fields with the knowledge of which he was about to become a professional at the time, but he was also preoccupied with economic problems and his extensive knowledge And his clear and original thought was sent several times as the representative of his school for the show He was a member of the “Scouts” movement and even taught at the nest for two years, in addition to his great interest in economics and politics, was involved in social problems and devoted considerable thought to the gaps between the communities. He was meeting with such boys, helping them with their studies, taking them to the movies, and trying to give them a feeling of warmth and friendship Ra’anan was drafted into the IDF in early August 1971 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After completing basic training, he completed a tank training course and a course for tank commanders. After serving in an armored unit and doing a good job, he was sent to an officer’s course, and later took part in a course for armored corps officers. In every role he played in the army, Raanan emerged as a brilliant, analytical, dedicated and commanding fellow. Indeed, the courses all finished with excellent grades and twice was crowned as an outstanding trainee. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Raanan was a teacher at the Armored Corps School. He quickly prepared his platoon, and as usual, did so on the better side, and went out with his men to the southern front. On the 17th of Tishrei 5734 (October 13, 1971), in the battle of the “Television”, he was hit and fell. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on Mount Herzl. Survived by his parents and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to lieutenant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan wrote: “Raanan was a dedicated, disciplined and loved.” “His department organized a superbly rejuvenated battle, and in the battle of braking he headed his platoon, and during the difficult hours of the battle he encouraged his men, and he himself fought with courage and recognition of the mission he had carried out.”
