Kol-Tov, Mordechai (“Mordi”)


Son of Matzliah and Tova. He was born in 1930 in Damascus, the capital of Syria, where he studied at the “Kol Yisrael Haverim” school in the city of Tel Aviv. Where he graduated from high school and was loved by all his teachers and teachers. He was naturally quiet and modest and did not like to stand out. Every sport was loved by him. When he was in high school in Gadna, he was drafted into the IDF in February 1948. After his discharge he went to reserve duty and on 7 August 1968, when he was active reserve duty, he fell near Maoz Hayim in the Beit Shean Valley, and during his service he proved his dedication and loyalty as a soldier in the exact execution of the orders he was given. The battalion commander, in a letter of condolences to the family, wrote that he had fallen “while on a morning patrol with the Border Police to inspect the roads in order to allow the farmers in the area to leave for work safely. During his service in the battalion, Mordechai worked as a terrorist, a profession that required extraordinary courage and responsibility. Throughout his service in the battalion, he was among the disciplined and courageous soldiers whose memory will never be forgotten. “A scholarship was established in his memory and at the ceremony of distributing the fellowship, the booklet was presented to his recipients.
