Koestler, Reuven (Rudy)

Reuven, son of Anna and Otto Koestler, was born on January 6, 1907 in Munich, Germany. After completing his studies in mathematics and economics in Munich and Berlin, he immigrated to Israel from Germany in 1936. Immediately upon his arrival in Israel he joined the Haganah. He was quiet and pleasant in his private life. ReuvSon of participated in the War of Independence. He protected Abu Tor and fell on the 27th of Iyar 5708 (June 5, 1948). He was buried in Sheikh Bader Aleph. On the 28th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
