Kochman, Shimon Dov


Son of Esther Rivka and Yechiel was born on the 7th of Cheshvan, November 4, 1924 in Tel Aviv, and completed his studies at the Tel Aviv Commercial High School. He served as a guard in Kiryat Chaim. Thanks to his quick grasp and diligence, he became a certified accountant, loved sports and was a member of Maccabi Future. He was simple and modest in his conduct, honest and complete in his actions, and worthy of all his friends. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he left his job to devote himself to security matters, and served in the Givati ​​Brigade. He studied special courses and guided others, specializing in various types of weapons. On the night of July 17-18, 1948, Operation “Death to the Intruder” was carried out, in an attempt to break through the Negev. They were attacked by the enemy in Beit-Afa, and forced to retreat. He fell on the 11th of Tammuz, July 18, 1948, when he stood with a Fiat (anti-tank launcher) in his hand in front of the enemy. He was brought to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
