Kobler, Arie (“Arka”)

Kobler, Arie (“Arka”)

Son of Yosef and Sarah. Born on July 5, 1952 in Haifa, he studied at the Be’eri Elementary School in Neve Sha’anan and at the Reali High School in Haifa. Since becoming a seventh grade student, he has been a member of the United Movement. He had many hobbies – drawing, collecting stamps and especially reading. He would spend hours reading books, newspapers and encyclopedias. Thanks to his diligence, his great interest, his desire to understand everything he read and his extraordinary memory, he soon became a walking encyclopedia. As children his age played and played like children, he found the main satisfaction in the world opened to him by reading. His curiosity and interest in various subjects – geography, biology, history and literature – knew no bounds. His horizons widened and he found understanding, knowledge, and familiarity beyond his usual age, and this amazed everyone who knew him. Moreover, he was a devoted son loyal to his parents and a good friend and responsible for his friends. Yet he was sensitive, shy and introverted. In high school, his interest in mathematics arose. He was a student of the real-world trend and achieved excellent achievements in his studies. During the summer vacation between the seventh and eighth grades at the high school, he wrote an annual essay on mathematics, which received a “very good” grade and great appreciation from his teachers and mentors at the Technion. Aryeh was preparing to continue his studies at the Technion in the Faculty of Mathematics. He was drafted into the IDF in early November 1970 and assigned to the Signal Corps, but on 2/4/1972 he died during his service. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
