Kobalda, Shimon
Shimon, son of Tzila and Yeshayahu, was born on May 18, 1945 in Tel Aviv. Shimon was drafted into the IDF in early May 1963 and volunteered for the Armored Corps, after completing basic training courses, taking part in a course for half-track drivers and being sent to an armored unit as a half-track driver. The Six-Day War fought in the Golan Heights and all his comrades fell in battle, and only he survived.Then he was discharged from regular army service, he was called for periods of reserve service and was later assigned to the Engineering Corps and was awarded the rank of corporal. His comrades-in-arms said that he was “trusted in them and did everything he was entrusted with with great devotion and efficiency “During the entire period of his service in the army, he tried not to worry about his family, he often visited the home and made sure to write to the family, and he wrote to his wife that she had to recover and avoid worry, not to worry about herself and their daughter. The Syrians on the Golan Heights During the battle, on the 12th of Tishrei 5740 (October 12, 1973), in the area of Beit Zir’at, Shimon was hit by an enemy attack and died of his wounds and was brought to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. He left behind a wife and daughter, parents and sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant.
