Knosh, Avraham (Avi)

Ben Sarah and Asher. Born in “Tzahalon” Hospital in Jaffa on 28.11.1972, grew up and was educated in Holon. My father died of cancer, but on his first birthday he received a special gift from his sister Oshrat, who was born and joined the family. While his mother went to work, my father was treated with devotion by his late grandmother, Rachel Hushmand, to whom he was especially attached, my father began his studies at the Sprinzak Elementary School and continued at the Miterani Comprehensive High School where he studied programming. His greatest love was computers: he lived, breathed and loved computers, and in this field he made a personal contribution – without the knowledge of man – when he helped to maintain computers in the “Shanti Center.” Love of Man and Ability to Give Were the main features of my father, and wherever he went, he offered his help, and certainly helped his family His mother used to consult with him about every step he was about to make, and he would spend the Sabbath with his grandmother in Kiryat Shalom, and he would be a friend of her. He was always a man of peace, a wise man and a kind of guru to all the people who followed him. “In March 1991, Avi enlisted in the IDF and was stationed in the Artillery Corps. After basic training, he was sent to the Shivta-Shizafon camp where he served as a pilot. Thanks to his high grades, he was sent to an officers’ course and successfully completed his service as an assistant to the officer in the Moran battalion. In March 1994 he began his permanent service and at the end of this year volunteered for another permanent year. In his last position, he served as an adjutant and reached the rank of lieutenant. My father was released in April 1995 and, in the best tradition of his peers, traveled to the Far East. He traveled about six months, during which he visited Nepal, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Singapore. When he returned he enrolled naturally in computer studies at the Holon Institute of Technology, and for two years studied programming. After refusing to promise him that he would receive an engineering degree, he decided to continue to study independently. During his student years, he worked for Pelephone and wrote many software for it. He loved his work and the staff very much and described his work as “fun.” His acquaintances predicted he would be great in the field of computers, and it was quite possible that he would become Bill Gates II … Over the years, my father has served many times in reserve duty in the Paratroopers Brigade. At the end of June 2000, he made another reserve duty, but did not return. My father fell during his service on 29.6.2000 at the Moran base. He was 28 when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon. He laid a mother and a sister. My father left an extensive family network, mourning his passing and finding it difficult to accept his loss. “All of us – uncles, aunts and cousins - miss him, and there is not a day, an hour or a second that we do not think about,” the extended family wrote. The commander of the unit wrote to the family: “During his regular service, my father served as an assistant to the officer in charge, and his commanders praised him for his work and dedication to the general staff and the Moran battalion in particular.I was appointed commander of the platoon, For many years, my father has contributed to the organization of the battalion, its foundation and readiness for war, with constant work, demonstrating motivation and a high level of professionalism, and I hope that you will know that the unit will forever cherish my father’s memory. You’re the oneIn these difficult moments. “
