Kluger, Alex

Son of Sophia and Shimon, was born on October 28, 1910 in the city of Frankfurt on Main, Germany. He joined Kibbutz Gesher in July 1934. On May 18, 1948, the Syrians launched an attack on a plant with the help of artillery and tanks, and our forces did not resist the intensity of the Syrian attack. At first the town of Tzemah fell, and finally the police station, and the defenders retreated under Syrian fire. Alex fell on the 9th of Iyar 5708 (18.5.1948). He was laid to rest in a grave in the military cemetery in Degania Aleph. He left behind a wife, Esther.
