Kloner, David-Shlomo

The son of Chaya and Menachem-Mendel, born in 1906 in Dikshitz, Poland. From his youth he aspired to immigrate to Israel and rejected the possibility of emigration to the United States. During WWII he volunteered to serve even though he was over the age. Also, in the Israel Independence War David-Shlomo volunteered to fight. He participated in daring activities like throwing molotov cocktails on tanks that were attempting to breach Jewish areas of Jerusalem. He helped relatives and neighbors with the hardships of the siege and tried to move his small family to Tel Aviv, so that he could devote himself entirely to assist in battle. In the Battle of the “Mandelbaum Houses”David-Shlomo was badly injured but he told the medics to take care of others because he was only lightly wounded. On July 17, 1948, the 10th of Tamuz 5708, with words of worry about his wife and child on his lips, he died of blood loss. David-Shlomo was buried in Sheikh Bader Aleph. On September 10, 1950, he was transferred to Mount Herzl in Jerusalem on 10.9.1950.
