Joseph (Yossi), son of Miriam and Pinchas, was born on October 21, 1949 in Hadera, two months after his parents immigrated to Israel from Europe. He wanted to study mechanical engineering, but a year later he was accepted to study materials engineering. He did not like compromises, so he turned down his studies and eventually chose to go to computer studies. In 1973 he was accepted as a student at the University of Be’er Sheva for mathematics and computer studies. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Yossi arrived in his unit and took part in battles in the Sinai. On October 24, 1973, he participated in a battle to hunt down Egyptian commando soldiers in the region of the hills, north of the 101 km on the Suez-Cairo road, and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Netanya Left his parents and sister in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family: “Your son proved himself to be an excellent commander whose soldiers followed him with fire.
