Klepfisch, Moshe

Moshe, son of Sarah and Aharon Ya’akov Klepfish, was born on April 23, 1915, in the city of Zambrow, Poland, where he received a traditional education in the “Heder” and in the Lomza and Kletsk Yeshivas, and later studied in secular studies and underwent pioneering training. In 1935 he immigrated to Israel and served as a guard in the most dangerous places. Despite his pacifist views, he saw it as his duty to join the warriors of the Nazi enemy, and Moshe enlisted in the British army. He served in North Africa and worked for the Jewish community of Darna in Libya, where he joined the Jewish Brigade and arrived in Europe at Kibbutz Gillingen in the Netherlands, accompanied by the memory of his sister who was murdered by the Nazis and the desire to avenge her blood. When he returned to Israel after being discharged from the British army, he joined the organization of settlement of discharged soldiers, “Kfar Ya’al” – Menahemia, and when he was sent for training in the banana industry he worked on his agricultural studies, often turning to the Gordon House in Daganya and studying the agricultural library. He enlisted and served in the Golani brigade and Moshe fell on a raid on the village of Arab al-Zubayh on the slopes of the Tabor, in retaliation for the murder of seven members of Beit Keshet, on 27 Nisan, 6.5.1948. Moshe was buried in the Beit Keshet cemetery.
