Klein, Dov-Yehuda (Debbie)

Son of-Elisheva and Dr. Zvi, was born on November 3, 1929 in Tel Aviv. He lived in Rehovot, where his father worked at the Agricultural Research Station. Dov graduated from the school in Rehovot and was accepted to the second grade of the agricultural school in Pardes Hannah. He graduated from eighth grade and went to a training program for the “Scouts” in Ein Gev and Beit Hashita, found satisfaction in his work and was enchanted by the Galilee. When the War of Independence broke out he enlisted in the Palmach brigade and participated in activities in Mount Canaan, Safed, Degania, Kinneret, Sha’ar Hagai and Latrun, and in the Negev. The Beit Hanoun wedge on the night of 16-16 October 1948. The Egyptians attacked the Tigris strongholds with great force, and on the 18th of Tishrei, 5709 (October 21, 1948), the Egyptian forces north of Gaza were disrupted and misled. He was buried in Dorot, and his company (“Help Company D”) decided to call their camp the “Dov Fortress” – as a sign of appreciation for his active and devoted service and for his bravery: We will always remember Dubi as he stood with them and stood guard and admired his courage. Dubi’s example will remain in the company as a model for a commander and a friend. “After his fall, his family changed its name to Avidov, and on May 17, 1950 he was transferred to the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
