Kleiman, Yaakov
Son of Frida and Chaim, was born on July 31, 1930, in the free city of Danzig, and he immigrated to Israel with his family on Aliyah Bet in July 1939. As soon as the War of Independence began, Yaakov joined the defenders and took part in battles on the borders of the city, the Castel and other places. Despite his young age, he understood the role of the defenders, and when his parents asked him not to go to a combat company because of his age, he claimed that he was only going to protect his own parents’ lives. Later Yaakov was sent to a course for liaison officers. Yaakov fell during the conquest of Lod on the 4th of Tamuz, July 11, 1948. He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak.
