Son of Yosef and Madeleine. Born in Bucharest, Romania on January 1, 1952, he spent his childhood and youth in his hometown, where he graduated from elementary school and high school, where he studied for one year at the university, and in 1972 immigrated to Israel. Ilan was drafted into the IDF in April 1974 as part of the academic reserve and at his request he was assigned to the infantry corps. He served in the IDF since 1977. During his service he received a course for squad commanders, a course for infantry fighters and a course for combat paramedics, and Ilan was an excellent soldier with the ability to unite around him On April 11, 1978, Ilan fell in battle in southern Lebanon in a clash with terrorists. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left behind a mother and brother.
