Kiyof, Afif

Son of Ahmed and May. He was born in 1948 in the Druze village of Isfiya. At the age of five he entered the elementary school in his village. When he completed his studies, he moved to the two-year vocational high school there and then moved to help his parents and his many children with his devotion to them. He belonged to the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement in Isfiya. Showed interest in sports and was a member of the volleyball team in his village. Afif aspired to advance in his life and therefore worked in the garage to acquire a profession in mechanics and would buy many books on this subject. In November 1965 he was drafted into the IDF and was filled with enthusiasm and joy at being drafted into the army with his friends of his age in order to contribute something to the state. In the midst of his regular service, the Six-Day War broke out and Afif took part in its battles. After the war ended, the camp, of which Afif belonged, was transferred to Sinai, where he had faithfully served until the day his vehicle landed on a mine; It was on August 1, 1967, during a routine patrol around Kuntila. Two days later he was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Isfiya and at the funeral, Druze sheikhs and other people participated, among them Shaykh Amin Tarif, the spiritual head of the Druze community, the officers of the Druze unit, and the representatives of the government and the Histadrut. His name and memory were commemorated among the other Druze fighters in the book “Covenant of Blood” to Masabah Halabi.
