Kipnis, Tzvi


Son of Tova and Chaim. He was born in 1903 in the city of Odessa, Russia, and immigrated to Eretz Israel before the outbreak of the First World War. After graduating from elementary school in Tel Aviv, he established a farm in Kfar Sava and Ballet as a model farmer. His small hut was wonderful in its interior arrangement and in the green beds around it. The love of beauty, order, and cleanliness was an outstanding feature of his character and he devoted considerable effort and time to improving the front of his house and his farm. Zvi was a member of the Haganah and at the outbreak of the bloody riots of 1936-1939 he enlisted in the Hebrew settlement police and was stationed as a policeman in Jerusalem. His friends recognized him as a fair, modest and honest man. Gentle and helpful to others. After his discharge from the Jewish settlement police he began to work as a truck driver, excelled in his work and received prizes for proper maintenance of the vehicle. On 8 Elul, September 4, 1938, he was murdered by Arabs while driving near a-Zeib village in the Akko area and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Kfar Saba.
