Kiefer, Elyakim (“Elya”)

Son of Reuven and Shoshana. He was born on December 6, 1951 in Hadera and studied at the “Ahad Ha’am” school and the “Amal” vocational high school in Hadera, and was a member of the “Scouts” He was also a member of the Hapoel Hadera team and the city team, and was very successful in assembling models of airplanes and ships, and devoted time and thought to a collection of flowers and key chains. “Elia,” as his friends and friends called him, He was recruited into the IDF at the beginning of January 1970 and on every short vacation he would jump to the field to strengthen his team. The challenge they had set for them and the team was to return to the national league, having been forced to leave. He wanted to devote all his energies to bringing the group back to its place when he was discharged, but fate wanted otherwise. On the 28th of Sivan 5731 (13.6.1971), when he returned to the base from a short vacation, he fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Hadera and his unit commander wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: To contribute to the IDF the knowledge he accumulated in his adult life and his blessed talents with great loyalty, and he took upon himself his training with understanding and diligence, and we saw him as a good soldier, together with you we mourn the loss and we all know his commanders and friends. Hapoel Hadera decided to commemorate it in a traditional cup tournament, with the participation of several groups.
