Khalil, Amal

Amal, son of Zarifa and Praj Khalil, was born on 22.11.1960 in Magar in the Galilee. He attended elementary school in Magar, and graduated high school with honors from the school in Brahma. In 1978 he completed his three years of compulsory military service. On July 24, 1984, Amal was recruited to the Israel Police, to the field of investigations and intelligence. Amal had three friends who grew up with him in the Yishuv. Over the years, the group, including their wives and children, became very close and they went abroad in the summer of 2014 to Switzerland, a trip that they planned for about a year.
There was an accident between their car and a train. Amal and two of his friends, Bader and senior policeman Atef Haj, were killed on the spot. The other members, including Amal’s wife, were wounded. Chief of Staff Amel fell in the line of duty on August 11, 2014. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Magar cemetery. Gilad Stones in memory of Amal were placed in an olive grove alongside the road from Magar, his home all his life.
