Since then, he has been hospitalized in a number of nursing homes and despite the occasional improvement in his condition, he has not been able to recover. On the 28th of Tevet 5760 (2.1.2000), after his condition worsened, Aharele died at the Reut Medical Center in Tel Aviv. He was thirty-six when he died. He was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. Aharale left behind his parents and four brothers and sisters. After his death he was promoted to corporal.
