Keren, Shlomo


Shlomo, son of Moshe and Leah Keren, was born on March 24, 1941 in Tel Aviv. He was drafted into the IDF in October 1958 and assigned to the Israel Air Force. He was an excellent combat pilot and a gifted commander, who rose to the rank of captain. He continued his service in the permanent army. At the outbreak of the Six-Day War, he carried out seven operational missions with his plane, destroying sixteen enemy planes, including giant bombers. Shlomo had a healthy sense of judgment and, above all, was devoted to his people and his homeland. He contributed all his energy and talent to his functions, which he excelled in. On the third day of the battles, on the 28th of Iyar 5727 (7.6.1967), an air attack was carried out on the 3-H field in Iraq and Shlomo, who participated in the same operation, was shot down. left a wife and two girls, the youngest of whom was born a month before he fell. He was brought to rest after his body was returned from Jordan on the 24th of Tammuz 5727 (August 1, 1967), in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery.
