Keren, Michael (Misha)

Son of Jacob. Michael was born in the Ukraine on February 2, 1921. When he reached the age of seventeen he enlisted in the Russian Air Force and began his studies at the pilot’s school, completing his studies at the outbreak of World War II and serving as a fighter pilot for five years, Until the conquest of Berlin by Russia, and then went to Kiev to search for his parents who had moved there with the start of the war, where he learned that his parents and sister had been murdered by the Nazis Michael deserted from the Russian army and fled to Switzerland, where he joined the refugee camps of The Jews who survived the Holocaust, with the help of Haganah immigration personnel, were smuggled to Eretz Israel and reached Givat Brenner. (Before the establishment of the air force) and settled in Kibbutz Na’an, where he fought in various parts of the country in 1947. He fought in various parts of the country, flew supplies to the Negev, fought against the Egyptians and even flew supplies to the Gush Etzion bloc. 100. Michael served in the Air Force for twenty-five years, during which he fought in the War of Independence, Sinai War and the Six-Day War. After completing his duties he was sent on behalf of the Ministry of Finance for the Bonds as a director responsible for the entire South American continent. For six years he stayed there with his family, and when he returned to Israel, he worked for IAI as a liaison with South America. In 1983 he was asked to travel to South America to collect donations for the Committee for the Soldier. From this mission, he did not return. On October 30, 1983, Michael suffered cardiac arrest while walking on the street during his mission in South America. Chief Superintendent Michael fell during his service. He was sixty-two when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv
