Kenan, Ephraim
Ben Gerda and Max. Ephraim was born on the 21st of Nisan, 5719 (21.4.1959). Efraim, Effi by his friends, joined the ranks of the police and served for a decade in the field of investigations and intelligence. His commanders predicted a promising professional future for him. He has discretion, professionalism and endless devotion to work and organization. Efraim’s commander describes him as humble, honest and loyal to his commanders and subordinates: “Your spirit of sacrifice and your willingness to contribute from your time and effort made you one of the most prominent and professional officers in the central unit in Haifa.” On Sunday, 2.3.1997, the arrangement in Jisr al-Zarqa was violated due to a number of residents who decided to fight the drug on their own. Ephraim was the duty officer that night, and he and his cops were called there to calm things down. As in many other events the deputies, who came to separate forces, found themselves at the center of the storm. One of the rioters hit Ephraim’s car. Ephraim was wounded and died three days later. Commander Ephraim fell during his service on the 31st of Adar 5757 (5.3.1997). He was thirty-eight when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. Survived by a woman and three children, parents and brother. Ephraim’s commander eulogized him: “Effi, with your head down and your heart bleeding, we stand by your fresh grave, mourning the cutting of your life while you are in your heart and bowing your head … to your wife Leah, to your children Ran, Omer and Tal, In the name of the senior officers of the Israel Police, and on behalf of all the police and officers of the Israel Police, I send condolences to your bereaved family, and to all of you, And salutes you for the last time. “
