Kempinski, Shimshon (Stephen, Hugo)


Shimshon, son of Devorah (Elsa) and Arik-Shlomo Kempinski was born on January 26, 1926, in Berlin, the capital of Germany. On September 20, 1933, he immigrated to Israel with his parents and sister. Shimshon participated actively in the defense of Jerusalem as a member of the Hagana for six years, completing a wireless course in which he participated in escorting the convoy to Gush Etzion. The last convoy was attacked by an Arab gang on the way back to Jerusalem, and Shimshon fell on the 7th of Adar 2 (18/03/1948). He was buried in Sanhedria in Jerusalem. On the 24th of Elul 5706 (6.9.1951) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
