Kaufman, Yossi


Ben Berta and Michael (Chaim Dov). Was born on April 2, 1949. In Romania, when Yossi was twelve years old, the family immigrated to Israel and built their home in Haifa, where Yossi studied at the elementary school in Romania and immigrated to Israel. He studied at the Yad Binyamin Yeshiva, At the beginning of April 1967, Yossi was drafted into the IDF, completed basic training and was assigned to the IAF. He was sent to serve at the Tel Nof Air Force base as an electrician who trains airplanes. According to his commander, Yossi was a “high-ranking man” and a model soldier. In 1970 Yossi joined the army. He was sent to expand his professional training course for heads of maintenance teams and served as a steering control technician and flight control technician. In his opinion on resistors, his commanders wrote: “Excellent, punctual, reliable, dedicated and responsible, motivated and efficient in the areas of management and control, capable of carrying out a wide variety of tasks, and doing much beyond what is imposed on him.” During his service, Yossi married Rachel. Over the years, the couple had two children. Yossi advanced from the rank of sergeant to the rank of sergeant, and on the 2nd of Adar 5752 (February 2, 1992) Yossi fell during his service. He died of cardiac arrest while in his home and was brought to rest in the Sabbath-keeping section of the Rehovot cemetery. Survived by Raya – Rachel, Bat – Tzipi, Ben – Benjamin, parents and two brothers – Yehuda and Aryeh. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the commander of the unit wrote: “Yossi was a character who served as an example and symbol for many generations of soldiers … Yossi was involved in all the departments of the division, always pleasant, smiling and cordial. From his path as a believing Jew. “
