Kaufman, Michael (Mickey)

Ben Gitel and Szlyck. Michael was born in the Soviet Union on October 15, 1947. When he was thirteen, he immigrated to Israel and lived in Herzliya, where he served as a medic in Golani. He joined the ranks of the police in 1972, and at the beginning of his career was a paramedic and first aid instructor at the police academy in Shfaram. Afterward he served for many years in the computer unit of the National Headquarters and established the Border Police computer unit. Michael contributed greatly to the police and society, and worked day and night tirelessly. Michael was a graduate of the Hebrew University in the field of humanities and a graduate of philosophy and international relations. His family says that Michael was a devoted father to the children and a loyal husband, a good man, always smiling and helping everyone. He loved music, dancing, jokes and books, sports and chess. Everywhere he went in he immediately became the focus of interest and everyone gathered around him. He was grateful to those around him, and his presence was serene and pleasant. Michael fell in the line of duty on 3 Adar 5752 (March 8, 1992.) He was buried at the military cemetery on Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem, leaving a woman and three children in pain.
