Kauchanski, Moshe
Born Batya and Israel, was born on 12 July 1917 in the city of Tugina, Bessarabia, Romania. He received a thorough education. Was a farmer and wanted to immigrate to Israel. He succeeded in realizing his ambition and made aliyah on March 10, 1939, aboard the Katina. In 1939-1940 he worked in citrus orchards in Hadar, near Ramatayim, and also received a plot of land in which he grew vegetables. In 1940-1941, he studied in Netanya the work of polishing diamonds and worked in this field. In 1941, he enlisted in the Jewish Brigade, went to Egypt and from there to Europe, where he remained until 1946. After returning to Israel, he continued to work as a diamond merchant and at the same time expressed his desire to join an agricultural community and live as a land worker. In February 1948 he joined the War of Independence fighters. In the Israel Defense Forces he served in the Moriah Brigade and in the Palmach Harel Brigade, and as a combat soldier he participated in the battles in the vicinity of Jerusalem and took part in the conquest of Hirbet El-Lahm Hill in the Latrun area. (18.2.1948) on the 11th of Adar 5702 (28.2.1950) was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery Military presence on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
