Katz, Yoram-Daniel


Son of Dr. Walter and Lilo, was born on Wednesday, April 26, 1936 in Jerusalem. He completed his studies at the Beit Hakerem High School in Jerusalem. He belonged to the Scouts movement. During the War of Independence, he served as liaison with his father’s “section”, which was the Katamon area in Jerusalem, and also helped to clean up weapons and move them from place to place. He had a solid character and was very responsible. Always good spirits and good humor. He loved music and from listening developed a sense of discernment and good taste and came to the knowledge. The paths of the country were clear to him, for he toured and toured her so much that he became a guide for his classmates and friends. He was drafted into the IDF in December 1953. Together with members of his movement, he went to the Nahal Brigade and stayed with them in Neve Yam and Ein Gev. In November 1955, he was called upon to serve again, and the next month, on the 27th of Kislev 5767 (12.12.1955), he went on a combat mission on the eastern shore of the Sea of ​​Galilee, where he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. On the first anniversary of his death, his parents produced a collection of his letters and notes. In 1956 the street bordering with his residence was called “Mevo Yoram”, as proposed by the neighborhood residents. In 1960, the Association of Youth Hostels in Israel called Yoram’s name on the youth hostel in Kiri-Desh, the area where Yoram worked and also fell. In Uri Milstein’s book “Wars of the Paratroopers,” his memory was raised.
