Katz, Moshe-Shmuel


Moshe Shmuel Katz, son of Chava and Michael, was born in 1960 in Haifa. Moshe was drafted into compulsory military service in the IDF in August 1978 and was assigned to serve in the Armored Corps, serving in various positions, including a half-track driver. In August 1981 he was released from regular service with the rank of sergeant. As a reserve soldier he took part in the Lebanon War. In March 1988, he was called up to reserve duty in Bethlehem and in the framework of his service he was assigned to guard the buildings of the Interior Ministry. Moshe died in a battle in Bethlehem on March 20, 1988, after he was wounded by a terrorist while he was standing outside the fence of the facility he was guarding and died of his injury approximately an hour later. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Mahane David in Haifa. survived by parents and two brothers – Yehuda and Hanan
