Son of-Yehudit Katz and Eliezer Mermelstein (born in 1928 in the city of Chust, Czechoslovakia) to pious parents and studied the profession of frames. During the Second World War his parents, two brothers and two sisters were murdered by the Germans while he was held in labor camps in Germany and remained alive. At the end of the war, he arrived in Israel on an illegal immigrant ship in 1947 via Cyprus. From the day of his arrival he was active in the Hagana and was one of the first to enlist in the Givati ​​Brigade. He set out with his company to attack the Egyptian “Burma Road” outposts, south of the Iraq-Suiden police, and in this battle he fell on the 3rd of Heshvan 5709 (November 3, 1948) and was put to rest at the Warburg military cemetery.
