Katz, Barry-David


Son of Audrey and Harry Zvi. Barry was born on 17 October 1955. He received a Jewish education at the Herzliya School in Cape Town, where he also received his matriculation certificate. After completing compulsory military service in South Africa, Be’eri began studying law. Barry was a member of the Zionist movement of South Africa, and in 1980 he immigrated to Israel. In 1981 he enlisted in compulsory military service in the Israel Defense Forces, and was discharged in 1983, upon completion of his service, with the assessment of very good commanders. After his discharge from the IDF, Be’eri was a member of Kibbutz Tuval in the Galilee, and on March 22, 1987, he joined the Border Police as a temporary police officer. In his spare time, Barry liked to read a lot, especially books on politics and history. On September 9, 1987, Barry was killed in a fatal road accident in the Haifa area, at the age of thirty-two, and he was laid to rest in the Misgav cemetery.
