Kashi (Kashi), Chaim

Son of Miriam and Joseph-Shmuel, born on the 22nd of Nissan, May 2, 1929 in Yaffo. At age 13, he joined the Gadna and later the Haganah. On November 29, 1947, Chaim was offered him a service invitation note. Since then, his entire time was spent protecting Tel-Aviv and its neighborhoods. He was ready at any time to run to bring the needed ammunition to the front lines and to be anywhere he was needed, many times dodging bullets to help remove the wounded or to provide food to members of the troops.
Chaim also removed the weapons and hid them to keep them from being confiscated by the”Neutral enemy”(the British). On the fifteenth of Adar I 5708 (February 25, 1948), standing in the “fortress” between the Hatikvah neighborhood and Mikve Israel, opposite Abu Kabir, they viewed dozens of British soldiers approaching their armored vehicles carrying “Bernes”. An order was issued
Disperse and hide. Chaim hid the weapons in the orchard. On his last roundup to gather the last sub-machine gun and the two remaining grenades, he was murdered by the British soldiers. Chaim was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nachalat Yitzchak.
