After four years in the kibbutz in the town of Auschwitz, he arrived in Eretz Israel in Aliyah Bet in 1938. Eliahu settled in Rishon Letzion and worked as a carpenter in the British army camp in Beit-Nabala and later in the Teresa furniture factory in Rishon Letzion. Was devoted to work and accepted by his friends and was therefore elected to the workers’ committee and after the factory became a cooperative he served as a member of the board. From 1938 he was a member of the Haganah and was sent to guard the orchards of Rishon Le Zion. Upon the declaration of the state, he joined the Israel Defense Forces and was about to leave for a training camp in mid-June. On June 3, 1948, Rishon LeZion was bombed by Egyptian planes. Elijah was anxious for the safety of his family and despite the entreaties of his friends who sat with him in the shelter, he felt at home when he was riding a bicycle. On the way he was hit in the head by shrapnel from a bomb and died a few hours later, on the 3rd of Iyar 5708 (June 3, 1948). He was laid to rest at the cemetery in Rishon Letzion. He placed a wife – Carmel, and two small children.
