Kaplanski, Avraham
Avraham, son of Tova and Yaakov Kaplanski, was born on gthe 3th of Av, September 9, 1919 in the town of Shkedy, Lithuania. In 1946, he was discharged from the British army with the rank of sergeant-major (sergeant) and established a home for his family in Kiryat Haim. In one of the battalions of the Carmeli Brigade, he participated in the defense of Ramat Yochanan, the conquest of Acre, the liberation of the Western Galilee and Jenin. After stopping the invasion of the Jordan Valley, his troop took the initiative and attacked the Gilboa area and on the night of June 2-3, the Carmeli Brigade attacked Jenin and captured the Gilboa Ridge. The Iraqi army, which moved to Samaria after its failure in the Jezreel Valley, Jordan, concentrated its forces and counterattacked, and under pressure our forces were forced to withdraw. In this battle Avraham fell, on 25 Iyar, June 3, 1948. He left a wife, Rivka, and a daughter.
On the 20th of Av 5710 (3.8.1950) he was transferred to eternal rest with his comrades-in-arms in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
