Kaplan, Victor

Ben Yehudit and Menachem Mendel. He was born on July 8, 1963 in the city of Rosario, Argentina, and immigrated to Israel in 1981. He attended a Jewish elementary school in his hometown and later completed his studies at the vocational high school in Rosario. Immediately after his aliyah he began studying at the Technion preparatory program, and was accepted to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technion and began studying in the Technological Reserve in October 1981. In 1983, his parents immigrated to Israel and built their home in Nazareth Illit. In mid-October 1985, Victor was drafted into the IDF and joined the Navy, and after completing basic training he underwent an officer training course and was assigned to a reconnaissance and towing unit. His commanders are in his personal file: “diligent, disciplined and with high professional knowledge, willing to invest whenever necessary. Pleasant and highly motivated, who does everything he is charged to the satisfaction of his commanders. Very devoted and greatly contributing to the advancement of the work in the section. “On April 25, 1991, Victor fell while serving in the Military Cemetery in Nazareth Illit, leaving behind his parents and two brothers Haim and his parents. In a letter of condolences to the family, his commander wrote: “Viktor arrived in the army as a certainty and for five years proved his great ability as a mechanical engineer specializing in ships. Victor performed his work impeccably, without regard to the hours, with great devotion, while showing discipline and a very high work ethic. In spite of the modesty that characterized his work, it was always important and accurate, and I appreciated it. Over the years Victor has managed to overcome the language gap and become one of us. Despite being modest and quiet, he was always willing to lend a hand and help everyone. “
