Kaplan, Reuven


Son of Ahuva and Zvi Dov. Born in Aran, Lithuania in 1914. Studied for several years at the Hebrew Gymnasium and after a day of studies and work as a laborer, he went to the Haganah and served as a member of the Haganah. On 7 Adar, February 26, 1939, at 9.20 am, as he was driving a flour-loaded truck to the eastern railway station in Haifa, a bomb was thrown at him and he was killed along with David Mizrahi sitting next to him in the cab. A large crowd accompanied the two to their final resting place in the new Jewish cemetery in Haifa. In the courtyard of the Technion, where the funeral procession was conducted, eulogies were uttered by the city’s rabbis. He left a wife and a daughter.
